To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its release we invited New York illustrator Johnny Dombrowski to create this stunning poster for the film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s iconic whodunnit. “Murder On The Orient Express”. In the spirit of this star-studded classic Johnny Dombrowski has cleverly peppered his illustration with a number of clues — plus a red herring or two — detective Hercule Poirot encounters during his investigation. Can you spot them all?
24" x 36" 5-color Hand-pulled screen print, 270 gsm Mohawk Superfine Ultrawhite
Hand numbered. Printed by White Duck Screen Printing. AD James Park.
Working with the staff at Black Dragon Press and White Duck Screen Printing was a real treat. I illustrated and designed the entire poster, including the title and credit block layout. Color separated and ready for print, I was fortunate enough to have the final say with color matching the final poster before production. Along with the poster's illustration, I included hidden elements throughout the image including newspaper articles underneath the silhouettes of the trees, daggers in the tree line, "AISY ARMS" in the mountains and even a dragon in the rising red smoke. A competition was held and the winner to spot all of the hidden clues would receive a free poster.
